The scouting staff of Baseball America and its partners sees thousands of high school players every year, many of them several times over. These partners have written reports on all the top players, carefully profiling them and documenting improvements or changes from one outing to the next. In many cases, these players have been tracked since they were freshmen or sophomores in high school. Tracking the progression of these players is invaluable in projecting their long-range worth.

Below is a sample player page with full biographical information and scouting reports.

Scouting Reports:

12/2001 -- PG World Showcase, Fort Myers, Fla.
Leffler displayed one of the strongest arms in the event. He receives well and has improved his batspeed and hitting ability. He could have the quickest arm in the nation from behind the plate. He has a strong body and flashed some power potential. One of the better catch-and-throw guys in his class.

1/2002 -- PG Underclassmen Showcase, Fort Myers, Fla.
As the top catch-and-throw receiver in the showcase, Leffler showed us some of the best pop times in his class. He was quick behind the plate, had a fast but controlled transfer and showed mid 80s velocity on his throws to second. He popped 1.87 twice with good online carry to the bag. He also swung the bat with some authority and flashed good overall hitting skills. He has a good body and looks like there is power potential in his bat.

6/2002 -- PG National Showcase, Tropicana Field/St. Petersburg
Leffler is one of the best throwing catchers we have seen in high school baseball. His pop times and velocity readings are great. He does have a tendency to rush his transfer at times. This causes some unnecessary problems that he does not need with his arm strength. As a hitter, he flashes power potential and some bat speed. He projects to get much stronger and his bat will be the major benefactor of that.

7/2002 -- PG/BA WWBAChampionship, East Cobb Complex/Marietta, Ga.
As usual, he played very well with cat-like reactions behind the plate. He came through with a few big hits. As his bat improves, he will grade out as a 5 on the 2-to-8 scale.

8/2002 -- East Coast Pro Showcase, Wilmington, N.C.
As the best catch and throw receiver in Wilmington, Leffler made promising strides with his bat and looked like the top pure catcher in the event. He popped several low 1.8's in the skills, and produced a sub-2.0 pop twice in the games and showed near-perfect carry to the bag. At the plate, he showed a line-drive swing with occasional gap power. His body is a plus and that arm of his is also a plus. He looks more polished receiving the ball each time we see him.

10/2002 -- PG/BA World Championship - Jupiter, FL
He can throw the ball, 1.89 and 2.0 pops in the game, with soft quick hands. 4.76 to first base. Good receiver and has some hitting potential. One of the best defensive catchers in Jupiter. Flashes pull power potential.

1/2003 -- PG World Showcase - Ft Myers, FL
Leffler looked very good during the drills. His pop times were in the 1.8's with consistent 83 mph velocity. Looked even better in the games. Had a good BP showing some power and smoked a few line drives.
